Equipment
Overview
Despite her exclusivity as a drop-only unit, M1A1 underperforms as a RF even when compared to units of equal or lower rarity due to her terrible base Damage. Even though she has a fairly powerful Assault Focus T Skill, that alone is not enough to compensate for her lack of a Damage stat. Given her otherwise average statline, M1A1 unfortunately does not have enough to be anything other than a subpar RF choice even if she is provided with substantial Damage buffs from accompanying HGs.

Strengths
Decent Skill
- M1A1 has the Assault Focus T Skill, which increases her RoF by a good amount after a relatively short Initial Cooldown.
Weaknesses
Abysmal Base Damage
- M1A1 has by far the lowest base Damage among RFs and only slightly above average RoF, which leaves her with very low overall DPS despite her Skill.
Full Analysis
M1A1 is one of the few drop-exclusive units, only obtainable from maps Normal 6-6 and Emergency 6-4. Unfortunately, the difficulty most players will have obtaining her does not directly correlate to her effectiveness as a unit. This is most clearly evidenced by M1A1’s abysmal base Damage of 95, which is more than 20% below the RF class average. Despite her above average RoF, the multiplicative nature of critical damage calculation ultimately means M1A1’s overall DPS suffers greatly compared to that of other RFs.
M1A1’s Skill is Assault Focus T, which at maximum level increases her RoF by 40% for 15 seconds after a 5 second Initial Cooldown. This skill is relatively powerful and would normally be enough to bump a unit up into the viable tier, but even a good Skill such as this is not enough to compensate for M1A1’s sheer lack of Damage to work with.
Overall, M1A1 just does not have enough ways to compensate for her exceptionally low base Damage and performs poorly compared to most other RFs. Because of her underwhelming stats, farming for and leveling M1A1 should not be a high priority for most players unless it is for the sake of index completion.

Team Options
-
DMG and Hybrid buffing HGs - M1A1 desperately needs whatever buffs she can get to compensate for her low base Damage, and as such benefits from teaming up with HGs such as Grizzly; while Stechkin and Makarov also help M1A1 get closer to the RoF cap.
-
RoF buffing HGs - M1A1’s Skill is nowhere near enough to cap her RoF alone, so she should be complemented with HGs like PPK and M950A.
Recommended Formations

M1A1 |
M1A1 should generally be placed in the bottom left corner position of a standard HGRF formation. Ideally, she can mutually buff the HG in the position above her.

History/Trivia
As the most produced small arm for the United States military in World War II, the M1 carbine is often mistakenly believed to be a variant of the M1 Garand due to the similarities in their service period, appearance, and name. This is a false assumption, however, as the M1 carbine utilizes both a different cartridge and a different feed system from the Garand. Although classified as a RF in game, the ammo used by the M1 carbine is actually somewhere between that of SMGs and ARs in terms of power, fulfilling the need for a mid-range lightweight weapon with more stopping power than the .45ACP rounds of the popular Thompson and M50 SMGs. For this reason, some consider the M1 carbine to be the predecessor of the “personal defense weapon” category of armament.
