Clear Steps

The final non-EX challenge of Polarized Light is a showdown with the Ares Mech. The map provides you with several tools to weaken the boss, including Bombs, an EMP, A HOC to blast, and so on. You can use as many or as few of these as you wish, but this guide will be using almost all of them to have the easiest time with the boss fight. 

I've gone over the Mech's attacks before, but this time we need to put some more effort into teambuilding. 

First, tanking. A Shotgun is the best option here, preferably SAT8, although any other Shotgun you can pull in to Tank will do the job. 

Next, DPS. Machineguns are the Dolls of choice if possible here, although for veterans, there are some other options such as Desert Eagle that ignore shields. Within MGs, this battle potentially goes long enough to make Negev a viable option, but standard MGs such as PKP, PK, MG5 or M2HB can be used. The crown jewel of this is actually LWMMG Mod 2+ however, her ability to apply shields to the tank to keep them alive is exceptionally valuable. 

Finally, buffers. HS2000 is also valuable, she can more or less completely neutralize the Boss's laser AoE, but any standard HG buffer will be able to suffice. 

Despite the CE this boss is something of a wet noodle before a prepared team with the right debuffs applied. Ceia's example video actually uses few map resources than this guide does, and memes on the boss with a 5HG Echelon...albeit a very cheesy one. 

Turn 1


Deploy your Combat Echelon on the upper-right Heliport, and Dummies on the lower Heliport and Command Post. 

Move the Combat Echelon to the left one node. Pick up the Bomb. Continue left three nodes, wave at the Boss, and move down one node. 


Move the Echelon on the Command Post to the right two nodes. Pick up the EMP Grenade. End your turn.

Turn 2


Place the Bomb carried by your Combat Echelon. Move down two nodes, and to the right one node. 


Move the lower-left Dummy Echelon up one node. Pick up the Bomb. Move to the right two nodes, then up one node. End your turn. 

Turn 3-4


Move the Dummy holding the Bomb up one node. Place the Bomb. 


Wave at the Boss again, then move down two nodes and left one node. 


Move the Echelon holding the EMP to the left three nodes. End your turn

Turn 4

End your turn. 

Turn 5


Use the HOC to blast the Boss, then throw the EMP at him. With this done, take your Combat Echelon to the left one node, and bring down this final 'challenge'.
